Important Privacy Act information

February 17, 2009

Applicant Privacy and Security

While in the field, inspectors are constantly exposed to private applicant information such as social security numbers, birthdates, telephone numbers, etc. It is important that inspectors not only understand the policies for protecting this information, but also what procedures to follow if an applicant’s privacy is compromised, i.e. 9069s are lost or equipment stolen.

These policies and procedures are presented in the elearning course, Understanding FEMA and PB Privacy Act Policies.

What should you do if your computer pad is stolen?

To whom do you report stolen or lost 90-69s?

Answers to these questions are contained within this course plus much more valuable information. Applicant privacy is such an important topic for the applicant, FEMA and PB that this course is highly recommended for all inspectors. PB truly believes inspectors that have completed the course are more prepared to meet our client’s expectations. To this end, inspectors who have taken the course and/or retake the course on an annual basis will be given priority and deployed first.

No one expects their equipment to be stolen. No one imagines losing their 90-69s but it happens. Be prepared for the worst. Become familiar today with FEMA and PB privacy act policies.
